Holding a special promotion on your website creates excitement and brings traffic. The small amount of revenue that you are giving up will be more than made up for in increased volume. One fitting option (especially for today) is a Halloween spook-tacular sale!
Other options include:
Demographic sale – Pick a group of people to target your sale such as doctors, seniors, students, singles, etc. This is great if you are premiering a new service or product to a new target niche. Announce your promotion in forums, targeted e-zines, message boards, etc.
Hour of the day sale – Occasionally pick a different time of the day like 8 pm to 11 pm to lower your prices. Make sure to list your time zone. Let your e-zine readers know in advance, giving them time to plan their next visit to your website.
Seasonal sale – Get into different holidays or seasons and provide a special discount. Decorate your website, really let go and be creative. You could upload seasonal music and graphics. Get in the spirit and match the festivities with colored text.

Lonely sale – Each web business has slow sales and visitor days throughout the week. Analyze your statistics to determine yours. Post right on your website that your products or services have a percentage discount on these days.
Special bonus sale – People love getting more for their money. Provide a buy one get one free sale, buy two get the third half price, etc.
